About Peter
Peter began acting in 1997 when he was accepted to Reid Kerr college, (West of Scotland College) on the NC theatre arts course. Peter auditioned for the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama acting course and was accepted. Here he was fully trained by some of the best in the business in the world. While Peter was at the RSAMD he was awarded the prestigious award The MacBrydon (DDA’97) Prize, which is for movement throughout the course. After graduating from the RSAMD Peter participated in further acting training at Strathclyde University as well as The Actors Cut, which is a course jointly run by BBC, Equity and Gregg Byatt and Andrew Byatt.
Peter also took courses on Filmmaking as well as Theatre Directing at the Strathclyde University.
Peter’s very first part was in a short film, while studying at Reid Kerr, which also had Dawn Steele in it. On leaving Reid Kerr along with some other fellow actors we produced a short film called ‘Dugs’, where Peter was involved in production, and acting as well as some editing with the editor.
In the first term at the RSAMD Peter landed a supporting role with The Royal Scottish Opera in their production of McBeth, which played at The Theatre Royal and The Royal Lyceum in Edinburgh during the festival. In his final term at the RSAMD Peter got to play in Raindog’s theatre production of A.D. by Edwin Morgan, where he played the Disciple Peter as well as various other smaller roles at the Tramway in Glasgow.
After graduating from the RSAMD along with a few other actors we started a theatre company called Trespass Theatre co, where we staged the play A Doll’s House by ‘Henrik Ibsen’, where I played Nils Krogstad. We then went on to stage a number of other plays over the years including Bouncers by John Godber. We as a production company made many short films and showreels, working in all the various fields in the acting industry, such as, writing, directing, casting, crew and acting, which gave me a feel for, and an insight and experience into what it takes to get a production completed.
